Newbrook is a family office focused on acquiring and managing residential properties that generate attractive, long-term, tax-efficient cash flow. We acquire assets with strong in-place yield and target markets which will benefit from outsized growth and limited supply.

Our team has over 45 years of combined institutional investment experience and success acquiring and selling U.S. multifamily properties.

Newbrook provides clients with institutional-level diligence, underwriting, execution, asset management, and transparent communication.

OUR TEAM

Robert Boucai

Co-Founder & Chairman

Prior to co-founding Newbrook Capital Properties, in 2006 Mr. Boucai founded and is CIO of Newbrook Capital Advisors, managing long/short and long-only equity funds, with peak AUM in excess of $2 billion. Prior to founding NCA, from 2001 to 2005 Mr. Boucai was a Managing Director at Karsch Capital covering the TMT, real estate, lodging and gaming sectors. From 2000 to 2001 Mr. Boucai was an Associate in the Private Investment Department at Morgan Stanley. From 1997 to 2000 Mr. Boucai was an Analyst in Blackstone Group’s Real Estate Private Equity Group analyzing and executing investments in real estate-related business and real estate assets, including multifamily, office, hospitality, and industrial properties. Mr. Boucai received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Real Estate from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997.

James Broyer
Co-Founder & President

Prior to co-founding Newbrook Capital Properties, Mr. Broyer was President of Multifamily Investments at JRK Property Holdings, an NMHC top 50 owner and acquirer of multifamily properties, and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Mr. Broyer joined JRK in 2012 and was involved in the acquisition and disposition of over $6 billion in multifamily properties, comprising 36,000 units, and as head of the investment division, Mr. Broyer was responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and financing all new acquisitions and managing the disposition of all assets. Prior to joining JRK, Mr. Broyer worked at Boston Capital Real Estate Partners where he focused on multifamily acquisitions. Mr. Broyer graduated from Bentley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Finance and Accounting.

David Damast
Vice Chairman
Mr. Damast has been the Director of Research for Newbrook Capital Advisors since 2021 and assists the team with research across all sectors. Prior to joining NCA in July 2021, he was a Managing Director at Willett Advisors, Michael Bloomberg’s family office, managing direct public equity investing since 2020. Previously, Mr. Damast was a Partner at York Capital Management (which he joined in 2006) as Portfolio Manager and Head of US Equities, where he managed a team of eight investment professionals. Prior to 2006, he was an Investment Banking Associate and Analyst for five years at Morgan Stanley, primarily in Mergers and Acquisitions. Mr. Damast received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1999.
Ari Bender
Managing Director, Acquisitions
Prior to joining Newbrook Capital Properties, Mr. Bender was a Vice President at JRK Property Holdings, an NMHC top 50 owner and acquirer of multifamily properties. Mr. Bender joined JRK in 2018 and was involved in the acquisition of over $2 billion in multifamily properties, comprising 25+ transactions and 8,000 units. While at JRK, Mr. Bender oversaw the West Cost, Central, and Southern regions of the United States, spearheading the company’s initial exposure in six states and ten submarkets. Mr. Bender assisted in deploying over $550 million of equity from four multifamily funds and worked on the sale or refinance of 30+ multifamily assets. Prior to joining JRK, Mr. Bender was a summer analyst at Houlihan Lokey in the Mergers and Acquisitions division. Mr. Bender graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Real Estate from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
Adam Donahue
Managing Director, Business Development
Prior to joining Newbrook Capital Properties, Mr. Donahue was a Senior Director at Rithm Capital, a $32 billion dollar asset manager focused on real estate and financial services. During his time at Rithm, Mr. Donahue managed capital formation and investor relations efforts with institutional investors globally. Prior to Rithm, Mr. Donahue served as Vice President, and Head of HNW & Family Office Distribution at Cadre, a technology-enabled real estate platform backed by Goldman Sachs, Andreessen Horowitz, and SL Green. During his four years at Cadre, the team committed $3 billion in total transaction volume across multifamily, office, industrial and hospitality, resulting in over $400 million of gross distributions to investors. Mr. Donahue began his career at Evercore ISI where he spent four years covering hedge funds, mutual funds and pension funds in New York and the Midwest. Mr. Donahue graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Christopher Reed
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Reed has been CFO of Newbrook Capital Advisors since 2006, overseeing an SEC-registered firm with peak assets of over $2 billion and 15 employees. Mr. Reed has extensive experience in fund accounting, tax, employment, compliance, and organizational matters. Prior to joining NCA in June 2006, Mr. Reed was an Audit Partner and Managing Director at Goldstein Golub Kessler where he had worked for 23 years. Mr. Reed received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John’s University in 1983.

Alexandra Jenal
Controller & Investors Relations
Ms. Jenal has been Controller and Office Manager of Newbrook Capital Advisors since 2013, and has significant experience in fund accounting, investor relations, and overseeing vendor relationships including IT and systems management. Prior to joining NCA in June 2013, Ms. Jenal was the Office Manager at Studio Dror where she had worked since July 2008. Ms. Jenal received a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business in 2017 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Archaeology & Ancient History from Franklin & Marshall College in 2008.
